Complete Overview of Adriatic Dive Sites

The waters around Bol, Brač and Hvar offer some of the most diverse scuba diving
locations in Croatia. From shallow reefs and relaxed beginner dives to deep walls,
underwater caves, tunnels and technical dive sites, the Adriatic Sea provides
excellent conditions for divers of every level.

The region is known for exceptional visibility, dramatic limestone formations,
rich marine life, historical underwater locations and beautiful blue-water diving.
Many sites are suitable for recreational divers, while others are perfect for
Advanced, Deep, Technical and CCR divers looking for more challenging exploration.


Babića Stine – Roman Mosaic

Dive Sites Around Bol Brač and Hvar

One of the most unique dive sites near Bol. At only 5–8 meters depth divers can
discover remains of an ancient Roman mosaic estimated to be nearly 2000 years old.

The wall runs parallel to the coastline and descends to around 25 meters. Small
caverns, cracks and rocky openings provide shelter for octopus, moray eels and
many smaller Adriatic species.

This location is ideal for both beginner and experienced divers and is also highly
popular for night diving.


Golubinja Špilja

Dive Sites Around Bol Brač and Hvar

Known for underwater cliffs and impressive rock formations, this dive site reaches
depths of approximately 28 meters and offers abundant reef life.

During night dives the cracks and rocky structures become active with Adriatic
night species including conger eels, scorpionfish, lobsters and octopus.


Ronan Reef

A long reef system filled with small caverns and rocky passages. The reef top begins
around 18 meters while the bottom descends to approximately 30–35 meters.

The combination of sandy bottom areas and reef structures makes it an excellent
location for underwater photography and exploration dives.


Murvica Reef

One of the classic dive sites near Bol. The reef begins around 15 meters depth and
lies approximately 50–60 meters from shore.

The area is full of small rocks, holes and caverns populated by schools of salema,
moray eels, octopus and scorpionfish.

Perfect for relaxed recreational diving.


Zala Luka – Hvar

Dive Sites Around Bol Brač and Hvar

A spectacular wall dive descending from around 10–25 meters to depths beyond 50 meters.
This is considered one of the most impressive dive locations around Hvar Island.

The wall is covered with red and yellow gorgonians and soft corals, while the open
sea environment occasionally attracts larger pelagic fish species.

Excellent visibility and occasional currents make this a very exciting dive site.


Tatinja – Hvar

Dive Sites Around Bol Brač and Hvar

A fascinating historical dive site where divers can still find remains of a
19th-century shipwreck at approximately 30 meters depth.

Fragments of old ceramics and coins connected to the Austro-Hungarian period can
still be discovered in the area.

The second part of the dive follows a beautiful wall full of cracks, marine life
and rocky structures.

Recommended for Advanced Open Water and Deep Divers.


Smočiguzica – Hvar

Dive Sites Around Bol Brač and Hvar

One of the most famous dive sites in the region. An underwater rock formation begins
around 10 meters depth and drops vertically to approximately 50 meters.

The wall is covered with gorgonians, soft corals and schools of fish, while numerous
rock openings create impressive underwater scenery.

A very photogenic location with beautiful Adriatic blue water.


Kabal – Hvar

Dive Sites Around Bol Brač and Hvar

An underwater rocky formation featuring a tunnel connecting one side of the reef
to the other.

The tunnel starts around 9 meters depth and exits near 18 meters. On the opposite
side divers continue along a vibrant wall full of marine life.

Excellent natural light conditions make this site perfect for underwater photography.


Uvala Duboka – Hvar

A reef descending to approximately 35 meters depth with a small fishing boat resting
on the sandy bottom.

The site combines reef diving with wreck exploration and usually offers calm
conditions and very good visibility.


Blaća – Brač

An extensive reef and small cave system descending to depths of around 60 meters.

Because of occasional currents, larger depth and the size of the exploration area,
this site is more suitable for experienced divers.

Especially popular among Deep, Technical and CCR divers.


Lučice Cave – Brač

Dive Sites Around Bol Brač and Hvar

Probably the most famous dive site around Brač and one of the most beautiful cavern
dive locations in Croatia.

The cave entrance begins at only 3–4 meters depth. Inside, divers discover a massive
chamber reaching approximately 40 meters depth with tunnels, stalagmites and an air chamber.

The natural light entering the cave creates a spectacular cathedral-like atmosphere
that makes this site unforgettable.

More experienced divers can explore deeper sections of the cave system.


Vodnjak – Pakleni Islands

One of the most spectacular technical dive sites near Hvar.

A massive underwater rock tower rises from the deep blue. The most famous section
features a canyon covered with red gorgonians between 15 and 40 meters depth,
together with a tunnel located around 35 meters.

This is classic Adriatic blue-water diving with vertical walls, large open spaces
and the possibility of encountering larger fish species.

Highly appreciated by advanced divers, deep divers and underwater photographers.


Mrduja – Between Brač and Šolta

At approximately 35–45 meters depth divers can explore a sunken fishing boat wreck.

This location is usually organized as a full-day diving trip combining a wreck dive
with a second reef or wall dive during the return journey.

Ideal for wreck divers, Advanced Open Water and Deep Divers.


Diving Around Brač & Hvar

The Bol region offers an exceptional variety of diving experiences including walls,
drop-offs, underwater caves, tunnels, wrecks, gorgonian reefs, underwater archaeology,
technical diving and relaxed beginner-friendly reefs.

Visibility during the season frequently exceeds 20–30 meters, while summer water
temperatures usually range between 23–26°C.

The most famous dive locations in the area include Lučice Cave, Vodnjak,
Smočiguzica, Zala Luka, Tatinja and Babića Stine.
